Had an amazing discovery today while clearing out a cupboard.Found some LPs and singles. Amongst the singles were "Grandad" by Clive Dunn and Long Haired Lover From Liverpool by ? BUT also "Jubilee Waltz 77" in honour of the Queen's Silver Jubilee! Sleeve design by Dennis Harle.
Also a certificate No 60 out of 750 produced specially for the Silver Jubilee Celebration held in Sandwich.
Bet my Mum thought I would like it as a souvenir, she did things like that.

Hi all. Reading the "Holy Ghost Alley" thread and also being gently nudged by my friend Frances inspired me to take a few photos around Sandwich last Saturday showing some changes that have taken place. I thought it might amuse some of you to take a look and see if you can spot what was formerly visible... the link is h**p://www.flickr.com/photos/13663689@N00/

Somebody remind me please where Holy Ghost Alley is.
I think it's from mid way along St Peter's
St to the High St.
Am I right in saying Seven Post Alley is the one from St Peter's St to High St , coming out nearer the Bell?

Trying to find contact details for Trevor Bower, who now lives in Australia.
Saw an entry dated, 29th April 2002, in which he mentions a primary school photo taken at Sandwich primary school in 1957/58.
Would be grateful for any info.
Thanks
John

Have just found this site and have been reading some of the previous enteries which made interesting reading.
Was good to see names that I remember and enteries about shops/ places/ events that I can remember.
Be good to hear from old school friends as we will all be 60ish this year.
Regards
John

Just wanted to say what a lovely atmosphere Sandwich had the night of her Christmas procession and lights this year.
Myself, my two daughters and my four little grandchildren all came over on a very cold windy night, to find the market square ablaze with the colour and light of the little roundabouts the fairground stalls and the food stalls. With Christmas songs over the loudspeakers and the tantalising smell of hot food, once you got in with the crowds, everybody kept everybody else warm, and made even more warm because everyone was so happy and Christmassy. And even if the well wrapped up kiddies did have bright red noses, we all had such great fun, getting very excited waiting for the wonderful little procession to come past, go round and then come past again.
Once again, we absolutely loved the whole thing. Thankyou Sandwich once again for renewing our family ties to the town, and for creating something very special and making our Christmas.

Am hoping that someone may be able to help me. I am looking for any info on William Wallis (my grandfather) who was Landlord at Ship Inn, Ash and then Bell Hotel, Sandwich until his retirment in 1975. I know he lived in rented accommodation until 1980at 11 Mill Green, Eastry.
Does anyone have access to electoral rolls for that period that could maybe find out who he was livng with.
Thanks
