Hi Hazel,
Great to see the note from you in here. I have never forgotten that your Dad gave me my first job,and to this day I still work retail. Funny thing is though, I have never worked in a bookstore in Canada. All sorts of other retail but not books. I still read a great deal, and both my girls and the two oldest grandkids love to read. It is great to,see how many of the old gang have hooked up on this board.
Take Care.

Hi Bernard,
Guess we just hadn't got around to the airforce base. My dad used to work there, and my memories of it are climbing the piles of mattress's in the big warehouse. Plus dad's superior ,had an Irish Setter that liked to visit our house, when he could escape from the base. The guardhouse where we used to have to wait until Dad came to get us. So yes there are some of us that do remember the base. Take care.

Great web site. I spent some happy times in Sandwich during my air force days in the 50s. Strange I found no mention of the RAF base in your history.

Hi Jane, Lynn, Trevor and any of the primary school gang - a rather belated Happy New Year to you all.
We are lucky enough to be visiting my youngest son Simon and his wife in Sydney, but sadly won't be visiting Melbourne again this time so won't be able to catch up with you again Jane which is a shame. Perhaps next time, anyway, hope you and your family are keeping well.
A message for Trevor (Bower) which casino are you in? We called in to Star City in Darling Harbour just on the off-chance you might be there. But then, I'm not really sure you are actually in Sydney. It would be fun to meet up for a coffee if you're in the area.
Also Jo Sear - Hi, I used to live opposite Peter and Pat Sear in Church St. St. Clements - any news of either would be great.
All the best to everyone.

Hi Colin,
Thanks for the quick reply.Yes I do remember the old barn and the two old ladies. The tall one as I remember her
could be a bit stand offish with the kids and the shorter plump one was always very nice. Don't remember their names though. It was so nice when that store opened 'cause it meant that I didn't have to go into town to get stuff
that mum had forgotten, plus they had a good selection of penny candy. I haven't been back to the U.K. since 1981.have been to busy seeing the USA and Canada.
take care and keep in touch.

Hi Colin,
Don't know wether you remember me. I'm
Charlie's (David's) sister, and was also
friends with your sister Carol! I remember a lot of very wet and cold Guy Fawkes nights in the field, by the ropewalk. Long summer days at the playground down by the river, that had the manual merry go round, that all the kids loved and parents hated cause we wore out our shoes. Friday evening dances, the boys on one side girls on the other. Saturdays at the Empire, didn't matter what was showing.Boy another trip down memory lane. Its amazing to me that so many of us emigrated to different parts of the globe and then we reunited on this bulletin board. My thanks to the Web Master for a job extraordinarily well done.My sister Sally does have an E-Mail address and she and my brother still live at home with mum. Neither have ever married. If you would like her E-Mail address, you can E-Mail me and I will give it to you.
cheers for now
