its good to loook back on life in sandwich, all the things we did,i just hope the younger kids have as much fun as we did. The days when a mouse was something for the cat to chase after and burning was to do with the trap cafe and not something you do on a pc. so can anyone help,i remember going to sunday church at a place in new street but now its gone, does anyone else remember it,i think it was somewhere behind the post office.....hey, the grey matter is in overdrive, did anyone used to go to the 2 phone boxes at the post offfice, one of us would be in the right box and one in the left and we never had to put 3d in so we could talk all night, those were the days

| i have just discovered this great site and have been reading all previous messages.great memories of people and events.i lived in upper strand st from 1944 until 1961 at no 8,between mrs beer and mrs ruby.i met bob silk in line to join primary school and we remained friends until we both left sir roger manwoods together.other friends i remember are terry(drawa)line, brian(brillo)latham, dereck(muffer)smith, tony(jack)horner, robin(mouse)else, ian field, peter sears, rodney craycraft, colin tappenden, barry and ian smith, norman(nobby)curl, johnny and ewart clapson, mick town, tony coomber, malcolm satterley, freddie saunders, cedric and alistair griggs, robin cornes, dennis coleman and last but not least of the many names that struggle into my ancient brain, peter hurst.it would be great to hear from any or all of these people or indeed anyone else who may remember me.my mum still lives at whitfield,my brother dave in dover and my sister audrey at st margarets and despite occasional visits to them,i have only once returned to good old sandwich, good memories at every turn but everywhere seemed so small!sorry about format, they taught me to spell at manwoods but no grammar!look forward to visiting again.bye for now, bernie.

| Spent many a happy holiday (including my honeymoon) in Sandwich staying with my aunt & uncle, Hugh and Vera Boys. Really enjoyed browsing through this web site, it brought back many happy memories. My aunt still lives in Poulders Gardens. Julie Wilson (nee Boys)

Here's a few more: Mrs Martin and her Sea Rangers, we used to row up and down the Stour. This had to be done before the tide went out otherwise we were stranded in the middle! The big fire at Feltons. Playing in the ruins at Richborough Castle (on my last visit there in '99 it was completely fenced off and there is now a charge to go onto the grounds. The annual Sandwich Fete by the river near The Salutation. Malcolm Moore's Dad used to light and extinguish the gas lights all round Sandwich every night and morning. Playing 'Hunchback' down the Rec with Sid (Banger) Watson, Michael Town, Gordon Reid and others. Going to the Tuesday market and letting the calves suck your fingers. The Foxhunt Meet every Boxing Day morning at the market square. I enjoyed your memories Jane and Linda and everybody elses. Trevor I also remember Mrs Stringers 3 wheeler. Does anyone remember Miss Cousins who lived in Moat Sole and her tiny Austin (7?). Hope everyone is well. Regards to all, Jo.
