Hi Is there anyone in Australia ( or anywhere really )who was in Sandwich around 1966/7 who used to drink at the Admiral Owen when Steve and Kitty were there and who has any knowledge of Dane House and the crazy people therein. David Gardiner

I think it is a great idea of Trevor's to set up an expat 'club' and will be only too happy to help. I am happy enough to do the 'secretarial' bit using the basic English I learnt from Mr Chesterfield - Serioulsy though if anyone else is keen maybe we can get organised. I bet we could come up with some great names for the club - Ham Sandwich springs to mind! Jane

Come on all you down-under expatriates, don't you think Trevor's idea had some merit, after all it would only be reciprocation, do not forget they made Robert Menzies "Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports". Apart from that an "Oz Sandwich" has a certain appeal, so who is good at organising ??? Do not forget every other part of the UK has some form of representative Antipodean organization. Tony Summers

| some messages from me in reply to things I have read in the guestbook. Josephine Sear (Samuels) re Mrs Cousins who lived at Moat Sole - my mum bought the Canterbury Gate House from her and she moved from there to Moat Sole. Also bought some of her furnishings including a Jacobean sideboard that she couldn't fit into her new home. My daughter now has it in her home in Crows Nest Sydney Australia. Colin re the fete at hangman's corner on the way to Richborough - that corner was across the road from us at the CGH at the corner of Gallows Field. Randy Holte - although it is over 50 years since I lived in Sandwich, and unless the Channel has crept in or crept out, I believe that Market Street to the Royal St George Golf Club is about 3 miles. You cannot get away from the old Town the local rag on the Gold Coast has just produced an article/advert for a book on English place names, guess which Sign Post was shown ?? Yes Ham/Sandwich. There must be nearly enough old Sandwicheons in Australia to restart the place down under. Tony Summers
