I'll be making a rare (these days) pilgrimage back to Sandwich during this coming weekend and will be around the old place on Saturday in particular. It would be great to meet up again with any of my old friends who might still be around. ~Thinking particularly of wonderful days at SPS when it was in School Lane (now the infants school) btween 1955 and 1960 and scouts during the second half of 50s before I joined the RAF in 196O. If anyone reads this from that era, I met Rodney Craycraft a few weeks ago - hasn't changed a lot. And does anyone remember Dennis (the Menace) Coleman - lived at the bottom of Boatman's Hill near the old scout hut? I'm in email touch with him after so many years. Hope to see ya Best wishes to all Ian

| Does anyone have any information on the Harris family who lived in Moat Sole in the 1870's? Three sons (including Harry James Harris - born 1877 - in whom I have an interest) became professional golfers. I would really like to know what became of Harry - especially after 1901. I'll keep in touch with this website just in case someone out there can help me. Thanks a lot.

| I lived in Sandwich for the first 20 years of my life and visit my family when I can. Recently (August)I wrote this to a friend about what it was like being in Sandwich again: "Soft summer light and trees are still. Pub doors and windows open; evening strollers brush the canvas of the quiet town. Blackbirds call goodnight and starlings whistle and sleep. It's eight o'clock. The curfew rings, the same bell sounding across all our remembering."

| Now for the rest of my message!I had the privilege to be stationed at R.A.F. Sandwich for most of my National Service during 1952-1954.I and many others have very fond memories of the place and the local people.I have returned a couple of times and am hoping to do so in the near future to bring back hosts of happy memories. These were two of the best years of my life!

Does anyone know the whereabouts of Penny Gower. She was my best friend at the Primary School '56-'62. Her dad worked at the Westminster Bank in Market Street, and they lived in the flat over the bank. I was ill on the last day of school there and didn't get to say goodbye or anything. She went to school in Dover and I went to Canterbury, and then I heard she'd moved. Has anyone from that time also moved to East Anglia / East Midlands and would like to get in touch?
