The Sandwich Secondary Modern School (SSMS) reunion for anyone attending during the '60s (and SPS before that) will be on the 7th June at the Kings Arms, Sandwich from 6.00pm on. Food and drinks can be ordered at the bar. I have already had several emails in reply to our reunion request on FRU, so numbers are looking good already. Organisers are Roy Neale and myself. Should you wish to attend let me know on reunions (*) bhoare.com For a list of who attended last year scroll back to page 6 of the message board. If your brother or sister went to Sandwich during this time then drag them along with yourself and lets enjoy a great evening of laughter, find out what happened to old friends, where we all went and things we got up to.
Once again I would like to congratulate Open Sandwich on a great site, which allows events like this to take place, thank you.
Kind regards

Thanks for your message Liz - Sorry no, we didn't receive a request asking us to put your reunion in the events section - but I will do this for you - please send dates, times, venue and who people should contact. Hope you all have a happy time down memory lane.

Hi Maggie, Pat (in Oz), Liz, Keith and anyone else who remembers me. I've just updated the additional entries from late 2006 when Maggie, Pat and I started to compile a list of Mr Chesterfield's top class in the infants before we all left in Summer 1955. Thought I would post another reply so that you don't have to trawl back through the older messages.
As I mentioned to Liz in the 'follow on' message, as well as those in my year, I seem to recall names from those either a year older or a year younger than me. Not so amazing when you remember how we used to play with others in your street. Just typing that, Liz (Griffin) do you recall playing in St Peters Churchyard when we all lived in and around St Paters Street? As well as you and me, I remember Christine Kerridge, Maggie Allen, Tony Coomber, several of the Clapsons, Patrick Miles (bit younger than me, lived at No 13 St Peter Street) houses now long gone unfortunately. Oh and another name which has just sprung back into my aging mind _ Errol Thomson (lived in 3 Kings Yard). I'm sure there were more - my memory seems to suggest a whole 'gang' of us.
Anyway could rattle on for ages, but must do my packing. With Dennis (the Menace) Coleman in Gozo next week. Will relive again all these precious memories when we were all so happy in little ol' Sandwich. When I return, I'll post an update, so keep reading.
A SPS reunion would be marvellous...just the thought of loads of laughter, and tons of those "...do you remember..." moments. Come on what about it???? Location SANDWICH of course, exact Venue to be determined...I would say those who left SPS in 54, 55 and 56-ish.
Kind Regard, Best Wishes and Good Health to you all
Your school mate
Ian

HI there
i have just come back from visiting the lovely town of Worth, however i have a whole host of questions that are unanswered and wondered if you lovely people may be able to help me.
My family 'The Goodban's) lived in worth for approx 30 years in the 1800's. 2 addresses i have are The Village, Worth Street and Cottage, Plum Road, Worth. Neither of which i could find. I am assuming that 'The Street' may have once been 'Worth Street' but can not be sure as i had already been to the archives and did not check the maps.
Also how long has the school been there, could by 3X gr grandfather b.1826 have gone to school there?
I found Worth an absolutley stunning village and given that there is also a farm there and my ancestors were agricultural labourers, i would imagine this is the farm they worked on.
Finally i noticed in the church yard that somebody has been reviving some of the headstones, does anybody know how i could obtain a list on the inscriptions as i have not found my 4x gr grandfathers place of burial as yet.
thank you for taking the time to read this and i will look forward to any help shedding some light on these matters.
thanks again
Nicki

Hi to everyone enjoyed reading the messages.Remembering girls parties,Frances Rossiters Dad doing a game starting with the 'moon is round '.Margaret Smiths noisy parties and 'walking the plank' at Penny Gowers where her family lived above the NatWest bank so very scary having the plank out the window. Also I still have the cycling profiency badge I took in cattle market. The icy cold water of the swimming pool built in the garden at the school where we also had our annual photos taken. Enough remembering for now
